David Evans Bailey MA is an artist currently researching a PhD at the Auckland University of Technology. David is studying the subjective effects of Virtual Reality and Immersive Technologies through the medium of Art. David’s background is Photography and Information Technology. He combines the professional skills in projects using virtual reality whilst also retaining a very strong photography practice. David has a Master’s Degree in digital Media Art from the University of Brighton.
David wants to understand how ‘Digital Mergence’ the merging of the digital and physical worlds, will influence artists and more generally society in the future. Through his work he explores themes such as those evoked as the ‘Surreal’ and the ‘Hyperreal’ (Jean Baudrillard, 1983) as paradigm shifts occur through the wider use of this technology.
