David Evans Bailey is an artist currently researching a PhD at the Auckland University of Technology. David is studying the influences of immersive technologies in Art.
David’s background is Photography and Information Technology. He combines these professional skills in projects using Virtual Reality and immersive types of technology. He wants to understand how ‘Digital Mergence’, the merging of the
digital and physical worlds, will influence Artists and more generally society in the future. Through his work he explores themes such as the ‘Surreal’ and the ‘Hyperreal’ ( Jean Baudrillard, 1983) as paradigm shifts occur through wider use of this technology.
